Mr Surya Ramachandran

Mr Surya Ramachandran is a techno-functional innovator and business leader with deep expertise in the design and development of cutting-edge artificial technologies. In his career spanning more than 25 years, he built technology-solutions from scratch, raised funds, led large teams, co-founded start-ups, created successful business plans, partnerships and alliances. In his recent stint as Chief Innovation Officer of IL& FS Education Technology Services Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, Surya led the company’s digital transformation by creating a cloud-based AI platform for education and skilling. Among his other achievements in the organization is leading the design, development and implementation of a cloud based adaptive digital learning platform nation-wide. He was earlier the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer & General Counsel of Chennai-based organisations HySynth BioTechnologies Pvt. Ltd and Alticure Research Pvt. Ltd., respectively. In both these roles, he was responsible for a wide-range of functions in business and technology.
Mr Ramachandran has spent more than 16 years in the US starting with his post-graduate program in computer science at the University of Illinois. He worked in various organisations in the US in different roles like technology consulting, research, development before serving as the Chief Technology Officer of AIdentity Matrix Inc., an organization co-founded by him.
Mr Ramachandran has implemented end-to-end real-world applications in the areas of education, healthcare, defense and entertainment in his employment and entrepreneurial stints. He has authored several technical papers, served in the programme committee of prestigious conferences of IEEE, SMC, IEEE, TKDE and AAAI and reviewed their papers. He owns two international patents in the areas of multi-agent collaboration for problem-solving, tutoring and entertainment.
Mr Ramachandran is a graduate in computer science from P.S.G. College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore and started his career at National Informatics Centre, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Interestingly, his thesis topic in both graduate and post-graduate degrees was in the field of ‘Artificial Intelligence,’.
In his free time, Surya likes to play bridge, chess, read, listen to classical music. He is also interested in photography.
